Mannekenpix, the Belgian? The things I was too young to get then that make me laugh now...
ME TOO. I was thinking 'if only this was Asterix...'
Me too, strangely enough ;)
I demand a NONE AT ALL option.
WHAT? Has the state of our nation's educational system truly fallen so low?
So low. So very, very low.
I seem to have forgotten about the less scary fauna (although the mares were quite scary, weren't they?). I got Nemean Lion, the Hydra, the Augean stables, Cretan Bull, Hippolyte's girdle, the Apples of the Hesperides (there's a place in Surrey that is supposed to be an attempt to create the gardens, I liked it very much but could not find any apples) and Cerberus. I knew some cows were involved but was too vague to warrant a point. I did not study classics so I get a B plus.
No one who did not study classics can get more than a C at anything, I'm afraid. But well done! I totally forgot about the Cretan Bull, probably because I kept thinking that was Theseus's gig.
All I could remember were the Nemean lion and the Augean stables. I hope the_original1 doesn't see this.
Argh, just the Nemean Lion, the Hydra, the Cretan Bull and the Augean stables. I ought to have remembered the Apples as well at least.
I also must try harder!
The Apples were the only one I remembered. Although I remembered he needed the golden fleece too, which was completely wrong!
Well, he did help Jason obtain the fleece, but that was just a bit of moonlighting, that he "forgot" to tell the Pelopponesian Revenue Service about.
Almost the same, except I got the apples and missed the Bull.
i only score 12 by remembering the labours of hercules poirot.
the nemean lion was a very intelligent pekinese. it went downhill from there, if you can imagine...
Can't believe I forgot the Nemean lion! And i couldn't remember if the cattle and the bull were one task, or two. (I did remember that the cattle were fed ion HUMAN FLESSSSSH, though.)
The other one that flummoxed me (though I remembered it eventually) was the golden apple of the Hesperides. I knew Atlas was involved in the Twelve Labors at some point, and I thought for a moment that holding up the sky was its own Labor, and not a sub-Labor, as it were.
Anyway. 8 out of 12 for me.
See what not having a classical education gets me? Confused.
Confused and mildly worried that I seem to have forgotten most of what I once knew..other than the significance of blue pencils.
Alas, I only got the Augean stables and the Hydra.
Then again, I don't think that's awful for someone who's never read any of the classics :)
(Though if only I'd known about the Cattle of Geryon, I could have made all sorts of comments in character after pulling off that cattle raid recently. Serve me right for RPing a Classicist while having no knowledge of Classics meself!)
Um, I thought I knew four but turns out one was from Clash Of The Titans.
I knew the shitty stable though. Everyone remembers the shitty stable.
My claim of five is slightly generous since I couldn't remember the words "Nemean" or "Augean".
I love the fact one of them is stealing apples! That's truly heroic!
There's a Just William book in there somewhere.
The mightiest scrumper in history!
You seem to have forgotten to include an option for "I haven't a clue what you're talking about".
I ended up with the stables, the hydra, the apples, Cerberus, the lion and bull. I was pretty sure he had to do something that pissed Artemis off, but couldn't remember the stag part. Not bad for a science major...
I've never watched a Ray Harryhausen movie.
And I didn't remember ANY of these labours of Hercules! Of course, I think the last time I glanced at them was for a Mythology project in Grade 6 (so, 11 years ago). Yep. Time to review the classics.
I win at the classics. And you not asking for proof.
King Eurystheus took to hiding from Herakles in a big brass pot, you know...
I got 1/12, the Cerberus one. I'm slightly alarmed your poll didn't have a zero option though.
0!!! (wah!!!!)
